Rising Down!

The upcoming Roots Album, Rising Down (release date April 29, 2008) leaves something to look forward to in the Ed month. And with a sick video for the track "Get Busy" featuring Peedi Crakk, Dice Raw and it's presumably mixed by legend, DJ Jazzy Jeff. We like to see silly video like this and we hope that this is only going to be the beginning of a great years for the Roots. I included the link for the "Get Busy" Video.

Here is a second addition by the The Roots and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

He's Back, but then Again He Never Left!

Ludacris has been mystifying us with his Atlanta style rhyming for a decade now and we still can't get enough of his catalog. These boomers are featured on DJ Clinton Sparks album Smash Time Radio Vol. 5 (available on his website) and we think you should check them out.

New Kid On The Block: Wiz Khalifa

According to Wikipedia:

Khalifa released his first mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, in 2005. The mixtape recorded sales in the thousands, leading to his first full length album entitled Show and Prove in 2006. Khalifa was declared an "artist to watch" that year in Rolling Stone magazine. Khalifa has shared the stage with popular artists like Ghostface Killah, Styles P, Lupe Fiasco, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Cham, Little Brother, Clipse, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, Mario, T.I., Nas, and Rich Boy. After bringing home “Best Male Artist” and "Lyricist Of The Year” at the 1st annual Pittsburgh Hip Hop awards, Khalifa premiered his debut video "Pittsburgh Sound", broadcast over the internet through various hip-hop fan sites. Khalifa uses, but did not coin, the nickname Pistolvania for Pennsylvania. In 2007, Khalifa signed to Warner Bros. Records, and released two mixtapes through Rostrum Records: Grow Season, hosted by DJ Green Lantern and released on July 4, 2007, and Prince of the City 2, released on November 20, 2007. In 2008, he will release his Warner Bros. debut album as well as a mixtape with Kev Tha Hustler entitled The Prince & Tha Hustler.

This guy is blowing up. Just heard DJ envy spinnin’ this on Hot 97. Turn up the volume on this one. For all you legal downloaders, you can purchase this on iTunes.

Here is another track that I came across today. Uses a T-Pain sample from Buy You A Drink. This dude’s flow is nice, he really knows how to ride out to a beat.

Single Of The Day: LUV ~ Janet Jackson

Just got a chance to listen to Janet Jackson's new album "Discipline." Here is one of my favorite tracks from her 10th studio album. This is also the first album since 1986's Control not to be produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

This one is the 3rd single of Discipline and is wirrten and produced by Rodney Jerkins.

New Kid On The Block: Ace Gutta

On February 13th, 2008, Antonio 'L.A.' Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, announced an exclusive partnership between Khaled's, We The Best Music, and Def Jam Records.  The artist ACE will be the first release under the new agreement, in store date to be confirmed in the weeks ahead.

Primarily known for his megastar-packed song productions, DJ Khaled retains his membership in executive producer Fat Joe's East Bronx-based Terror Squad. Khaled's label takes its name from his most recent album, We The Best (Koch, June 2007), which spun off two solid rap/R&B/pop crossover singles: "We Takin' Over" (featuring Akon, T.I., Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Birdman & Lil' Wayne), followed by "I'm So Hood" (featuring T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Plies & Rick Ross). DJ Khaled also manages the super producing duo, The Runners.

On Ace's debut single, Khaled brought out the industries hottest acts to support his endevor.  Produced by The Runners and featuring T-Pain & Rick Ross, this record definetly has cross-over potential.  Sounds like most DJ Khaled songs but cant deny the FRESHNESS.

New Music: Maybach Music [Feat. Jay-Z] ~ Rick Ross

Rick Ross is joined by former boss (no pun intended) Jay-Z on 'Maybach Music' (Ed title). Rick doesn't seem to be able to ride this beat very well for the most part. Jay-Z gets in a Paul McCartney/Michael Jackson reference in, quotes 2Pac and flows better than on most of his guest appearances of the last 2 years. Tagged with a March 11th street date tag. No that is not a mini me version of Rick Ross, it's JD, but I wanted to use this photo and it's so Maybach.

Thank You Hov

The man is back again. With the kick off the 'Heart Of The City Tour' coming in less than a month, Jay is goin' in on this one. You could never go wrong with HOV and Mary J. Blige on the same track especially with the added production of Swizz Beatz. Thanks to NahRight for the link.
